Austin — This is a singing practice. It is also a practice of continuous opening and letting go. Sitting here, on this now familiar stone wall, the world is only encouraging that opening.

The dog runs up from exploring to touch home base, licking my hand…
A crow flies a straight line of intention, right to left in front of me …
A mesquite tree flairs upward like a flower bud at peak…
Birds sing in layers, the furthest ones with more echo than the bright clear ones nearby…
Children squeal in water spray…
And breeze, blessed breeze, gives the complete embrace that only it can …

In all of this is Music and my session today turns out to be mostly listening. And in this listening that is opening and letting go, the few times that my vocal chords offer some “response” only fold in to the all song. me song, we song.
